Full Motion Video UAS Transceiver

The introduction of the Unmanned Aircraft System (UAS) to the battlefield has created a subset of indirect requirements necessary to execute upon the new technology’s ground-breaking capabilities.

The Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC) recently faced this challenge. The dated technology of the transceiver was putting a limit on the capabilities of the UAS technology. The UAS made it possible to transmit and receive communications at a much further range than the transceiver would allow. The need for an updated transceiver quickly became a requirement.

The Requirement

Improve technological effectiveness and sustainment with a tactical, mobile, full-color, full-motion video transceiver with a 65 mile radius.

The Solution

AFSOC has committed to 17 Low Rate Initial Production Units (LRIP.) CTG will perform market research to improve weight distribution and operational effectiveness.Long-term viability and procurement quantities will be evaluated in FY17 for sustainment planning. CTG will also procure all Commercial-Off-The-Shelf (COTS) material and assemble server racks in accordance with AFSOC pre-determined production schedule.
